Them Myst type adverture puzzles are mostly cool rendered worlds you are transported to with puzzles to navigate and solve to get back home. Very rarely do they have aliens to deal with, aliens have usually vacated and you are doing more of an archeological expedition. The puzzle are more about how things operate and finding codes than just a puzzle. In the first world the power for the word is provided by a diesel train engine. You had to trace down the the power lines to the engine, then figure out how to get fuel for it and fire it up. It wasn't until you fired up the diesel did other stuff you needed work including some of the door locks.
