No. Poorly built ones do, but there is and has long been a strong market for quality built replicas. A roller 904 replica will set you back 50K. An Intermeccanica with a six - six figures.
The Cobra, 356, 550 and 904 replicas began to be reproduced at the time when those cars became very expensive and out of the range of most people. Arguably, the 550 and 904 were always out of the range of most people. Until recently, a long hood 911 in driver quality condition was still obtainable by the average Joe and Jane. Now that they are not, perhaps a replica will be made but likely with some other powertrain such as Subaru H6.
