The extra weight takes some extra pressure on the brake pedal to get it slowed.
The real benefit of not having a passenger in the car is that the driver is then unleashed.
Without a passenger you can drive at your limits instead of being concerned with your riders well being.

I agree, and may I add that a poor passenger which shifts their weigh around at exactly the wrong moment (
car, motorcycle, hovercraft, aircraft, boat...the list goes on) is prone to ruining a perfectly good day.
It looks like Jack had a good well behaved passenger though.
Most times I would rather have a few bags of dead weight sand in my front passenger seat than some bouncing around idiot trying to get something out of their arse pocket in the middle of a tight turn.
