Hopefully it was just thunder and no lightning. 
One of my wife's former co-workers once said they had a lot of thunder one night "but fortunately no lightning"
Pretty funny until you realize she had a college degree and worked at a university. Not as a professor at least.
It is real handy to have a rear deck lid and trunk that will stay open without giving you head wounds or bruises
