Complete opposite happened to a friend of mine.
He was new to town and went to strip club, after knocking back a few that put him over the limit, he accidentally went South instead of North on the highway which put him on the opposite side of town. He exited the highway since he needed to pee, got out of the car and did his business. On the way back to his car, which is pulled over on the side of road, the police see him and arrest him for Public Intoxication. They couldn't get him on a DUI since he wasn't in his car and the keys were in his pocket, even though there was no other way he could have gotten there. He was really lucky that he didn't wreck or get a DUI. Laws are odd sometimes.
