Half of the problems noted in the original post can be solved by not overfilling the kettle.
You don't want to brew tea or coffee with boiling water. Bringing water to a boil then waiting for it to cool down to the right temperature is silly or stupid, depending on how PC you want me to be.
If you need to boil the water to release the chemicals in it or kill off (anything) you should not be drinking the tap water at your house.
I have found that I can boil water in any pot, so I seldom use a dedicated tea kettle to do so.
If you boil water once with a thermometer in the pot and observe what it looks like and sounds like at various temperatures, you can learn a lot.
Vash, if I need to teach you how to hard boil and egg without blowing it up, you let me know. Living where you live, house square footage is too expensive to have specialized kitchen tools for every purpose. Couple knives, couple pots, that's all most people can afford to have cabinet space for out there...
