Parts of Indiana have emission testing and it starts at 1976 on up. And if your car predates OBDII, it gets to go on a dyno for testing.

The 928 was exempted from the last two dyno tests but still had to do the idle test. The test site manager said they couldn't take the risk of damaging the car and wouldn't even let their own employees drive it through the facility.

Also, the starting date of 1976 never changes.

I'm starting to hear rumors they may be doing away with the idiotic program. It's been a waste of time and tax money since FI became the standard over 25 years ago.
Personally, I'd like to see the sites repurposed for safety inspections like we had in the 70s.
Make people get rid of their eBay special headlight HID conversions and do something about rotted out exhausts, worn ball joints, loose steering, bald ass tires, worn shocks, metal to metal grinding brakes and rotted out frames.
