We've got people doing production work on computers that are slow and out of date. Yet are buying new top of line line computers for interns that are only doing light work for the summer.
When I did the Mac side I did trickle down. I had a hierarchy of users. When we had a "new hire" the new top of the line went to the top of the hierarchy, and their computer was passed down to the next person that needed more until it got to the new hires level. With the Apple Migration assistant it only took about 15 to 20 minutes per user to do the swap and re-format.
Guess we just don't have time for that now.
