That's Nothing. I drive a 2002 Jetta that my son bought for $200.

I had struggled for months with a code for air/fuel ratio. I finally figured out that the vacuum line under the intake was cracked. Two weeks later, no codes, I took it in for inspection.

The guy calls me, two of the "readiness" flags aren't set. He tells me to drive it 40 miles and bring it back.

I drive it a couple days and hook up my scan tool. Still two readiness checks not set.

I drive the VW "readiness" regime 3 times (and it is no fun, even in the country). They are finally set. Passes emissions no problem.

But that can't be what is going on here.
