Back in the 80's had a 78 full size Blazer. It had a 250 cuin in-line 6 cyl. It would not do over 80mph any time and no matter how long you drove it. And that was floored. It would however, pull a house over with torque.
A few years later got an 81 Blazer with 305 cuin V8. It wouldn't go over 70, and on hills you were lucky to do 50. It had a lift kit and 34 inch tires. Swapped out the 305 for a hot rod 400. It went much faster and got 7 mpg better gas mileage.
