TBH, women that don't ride seem to mostly know brands that are advertised a lot. Around here if a woman seems me carrying my helmet, they ask if I've got a Harley; saying "Nope, a Moto Guzzi" just gets me a puzzled look(though when seen I get "oh, that's pretty!"). When I used to answer Honda, the assumption was crotch rocket; a riding buddy with a Honda Shadow 1100 has stopped correcting people when they assume his bike is a Harley mere seconds after he says it's a Honda - he just sighs.
Ducati seems to have slightly better name recognition but not much; I don't think I've seen one on the road since I moved here.
