One packet for a gallon of cool water. Used this in the Desert. Don't mix it like it says on the package, dilute about 25%. It works. And slow and steady on the work with plenty of breaks.

My main beverage when I work outside (which is practically every day in my line of work) is Diet Mt. Dew. I put some in a medium size plastic tumbler and leave it in the freezer over night - then use that as the ice cube in a big jug plus the DMD. Keeps it nice and cold and doesn't taste watery as it would with regular ice cubes. I also swing down Gator or Power ade when I feel I need an electrolyte charge.
But the potassium supplement sounded promising so I looked it up and this is what is listed as possible side effects:
Potassium can cause stomach upset, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, intestinal gas, and other side effects. Too much potassium is UNSAFE and can cause feelings of burning or tingling, generalized weakness, paralysis, listlessness, dizziness, mental confusion, low blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm, and death.
So I guess as Jolly mentioned it's all about balance and as Daniel mentioned...dilute dilute...and then dilute some more....
I'm going to look into this because my legs do get sore at the end of the day, especially when it's hot out....
