Pretty easy to have it appraised and if the itch to auction, get it to one of the premier auction houses. Let them catalog and market it. I wouldn't gamble doing it solo by online auction sites. Too many goofballs and scams. Let the professional houses deal with it.
Another option for free appraisal and prime publicity is to get it on Antiques Road Show.
