I realized about 10 years ago that I had way too much crap. 8 1/2 years ago I quit working full time so I could devote more time to getting rid of it all. I've gotten rid of probably two dozen cars, a dozen or a dozen and a half motorcycles, a couple dozen watches , probably 50 cameras and lenses, roughly 3000 pounds of books, 4000 magazines, and at least another thousand or so of miscellaneous things that I had accumulated over the last 35 years. For the most part I've sold them one at a time, and let me tell you it has been tedious. My house (4000+ square feet) is still full to the gills, although I've finally been able to get rid of the storage facilities I've rented over the last 20 years.

It's astonishing to think of how much crap we think we need and I look forward to the day that most of the rest of it is gone, too. I can't say that there are very many things I miss on a daily basis.

Once you leave that house for good, you're going to have a great weight off of your shoulders.
