Buying my 1st 911 in Japan - input on this '89?

I'm an American living in Japan, finally ready to buy my long dreamed about air cooled 911. I hope that my search will provide some interest and amusement, and in return will be grateful for any advice.

My budget is currently around $45,000 / 5,000,000 yen. I may be able to increase it but hope not to. In the Japanese marketplace this is one of the more intriguing cars in my price range: an '89 in Murano Green with a "bordeaux" interior according to the ad. 64,000km or just under 40,000 miles.

At 5.66M yen, it's about $50k, but I think they'll take less. That price includes all taxes, biannual inspection fees, etc.

It's had a front end accident and the hood alignment is not perfect. The selling dealer thinks it can be improved, but I'd like to get a body shop's advice. The accident happened two owners ago, and then the most recent owner traded this car for a 964 sold by the dealer. The dealer is very confident in the driving characteristics, volunteering that is feels great even at speed.

The dealer is happy to send it out for a PPI, and I expect them to agree to a body shop consultation as well.

I'm not looking for an investment - I want a car to drive and love for years to come. So, an accident history is not a deal breaker as long as it hasn't harmed the integrity and drivability of the car.

I really like the the exterior color and it's relative rarity, but wonder about how it works with the interior. But looks aside, I don't have the experience to know what other flaws or issues might jump out to someone more knowledgeable. That's where I'll be grateful for any advice about how to proceed (or not) with this car!

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your comments.
