I've had CFL or florescent bulbs burn out pretty much like our old incandescent bulbs did before modren era of incandescent bulb only lasting a couple of months. Have not had an LED bulb go out yet so far.

CFL bulbs came in the new dusk to daylight fixtures I put up for my front porch and two outside garage sconces. They have been burning every day dusk to dawn for two years. They are a funky bulb though. When it comes time to replace the bulbs it will be the same cost to just get new fixtures with the new bulbs already in them.

Looked at saving some bucks by having those outside lights come on a dusk but turn off from like 1am to dawn. Found that any sort of timer would cost more than the energy for 2 years of running those lights from 1am to dawn.
