CLF bulbs are like tires. They may look the same, but there are huge differences in quality. We have had one in the bathroom last just a few months. It did not get much use. Just a POS bulb.
I am not sad to see the CFL bulbs go away. They use mercury so they are bad for the environment. Breaking one is a hazmat cleanup if you go by the books.
LEDs are a way better technology that took a long time to get to market.
I remember as a kid I built a Heathkit project that was nothing but a box that blinked several different LEDs in random order. I brought it to school to show my friends. Now days they would call the bomb squad and evacuate the entire school and neighborhood.
