What do you figure to split the case/new bearings/ARP bolts?
Does it need bearings? That changes quite a lot. You have just doubled the amount of work splitting the case, and crank re grind. You can do ARP bolts without splitting the case. No more work than you need to do to replace studs (other than replacing the rod bolts).
Yes, quite a few weekends. Either that or pay someone good money for quite a few hrs of work. They ARE time consuming engines. I guess it depends how much you want to keep the car and how you value your w/end time. For me, I enjoy that stuff - as long as it does not intrude too much on other things. Bad weather weekends - I would much rather be in my w/shop working on an engine. If I was closer, I would be over in a shot to help out. Or, considering buying it as a bit of a project. The real Q is do you want to keep it? If yes, then the w/ends are an investment. If No, then you are going to sell it at it's lowest value point right now, going by the other comments and your assessment of the vehicle.
