One of my buddies who's way smarter than me that works at Telsa said this topic comes up around there often to debate. He claims he can explain all of this stuff. It makes sense if you're bat**** smart and crazy like he is.
According to him the easiest way to explain it all is close to what is happening in the film Dark City, where a super group runs the city and can stop time and fix things, fix mistakes and screw ups.
So Allen splains as the following. The reason there is very little if any hard evidence is the aliens clean up their mistakes all the time. According to him we are living in a computer simulation that is run by the greys. This explains in his mind how alien abduction takes place because the aliens simply can stop the machine and take control of the subjects (people). They can also go back in time and fix mistakes and they are running a simulation of Earth to see why we blew ourself up millions of years ago.
So his theory combines Aliens, UFOs and the Matrix wrapped into one.
