Then your gut is probably right.

They made more '86 911s (production wise) than '74,'75, and '76 combined I believe. It would be an easier sell, less emotional, and it would be like your dad still having it if it sold. I'd go this route as it would be the easiest. Car is ready to sell with no loss, both emotionally and monetarily.

As far as the '74 goes, the only way I would say sell this is to buy a Targa - but clean '74 coupes set up the way you want them are rare indeed. Most '74s got crushed, parted, or just rusted. Now that they have respect they will continue to have respect.

Now that a Cayman has entered the fold I would sell the '86 no problem. The '74 is more raw and less refined; lighter for sure and is more of a hobby car.

Sell the '86. I'd detail the heck out of it and put it up now (it's almost August) somewhere in the high 20s. But I would not wait and do it now.
