The oil galleries were likely plugged with grunge. In those years I never got a PPI done. Yes 3 three on the tree and a pale green paint job. Not very exciting. I did not keep it for long.
Huge trunk, big engine bay and not a lot of power.

Interesting, my dad had allot of oil problems from the six too. He bought it new, an upgrade from the 50 Nash. A few years later, he had to put a new short block in it. I was maybe 11-12 then. He did the engine swap on the street in front of our house. Big trunk, lot of rust - the body didn't hold up at all. Probably the Chicago winters and salt. He got rid of the car in 69.
