That's the key.
That and don't give yourself "I can't have XXXX, or I can't do YYYY". When you give yourself absolutes, and you break those, it's too easy to "go off the wagon". Just minimize and when you fall off the wagon, jump back on.
When you meditate, you aren't expected to immediately be able to empty your mind and keep it empty indefinitely. It's not about how you are able (or not) to empty your mind, it's about what you do when thoughts creep back into your mind. Keep trying.
