I wonder if when a car sits long enough and the oil levels in the tank and sump equalizes the sump level could reach the height of the turbo shaft and start leaking into the compressor and turbine side of the turbo? Not at home right now to check it out. Maybe that is the reason why they used the scavenge pump setup?
