Reading thru this time-capsule thread has been a joy. I haven't posted much on here, but have been lurking for the past 5 years. I found an 86 Targa in a barn a few years back, and have begun teardown. I've got very little background working on cars, but love a good challenge. As relates to RUF, a friend is one of the few RUF-certified mechanics in the US and has been working on the engine for me. I purchased CTR bumpers from MA Shaw this summer, but am looking for some guidance from the group before moving forward:

1. The front bumper from MA SHAW doesn't have the oil cooler vent cut out of the glass in the center. Is that normal? Seems like I'm going to do a lot of extra work to get that cut out.

2. Do I need nerf bars? Seems like some guys did it, others didn't. I can't find anyone online selling any... Is it best to weld some metal onto the shocks? (after moving shocks front to back, etc)

3. Seems like the 964 seal is what many guys went with on the front. Any tips/links if I want to go with a simple thin molding?

4. Did anyone use Rivnuts to attach their glass to the fenders, etc?

Pic of the car in its current state. Lots of teardown so far... About time to build it up
