Mag cased 2.7L are very expensive to rebuild due to the machine work and upgrades required. adds over 3000 to the cost of a rebuild (new oil pump recommended) not to mention that the machining may take up to 10 weeks with someone like ollies.
if i had a non numbers matching car i would NOT use a 2.7l or any mag case i would go with an aluminum case.
if i had a numbers matching engine i would keep it with the car.

I'm no expert with mag stuff, but I've done two mag case rebuilds now and haven't found that to be the case. There are a couple things that need to be done, but it was trivial and really no different IMO compared to anything else aluminum etc. I should note neither I did had dowel pins machined.

7r case mag stuff is much hotter in the market these days, can't get a bare block for under 1500-2000.
