It is one thing to disagree, it is another when for partisan ideology nothing concerning the governing of the nation gets done. Polarization has not yet gotten to the stage where the governing of the nation is impaired significantly.

The xtreme right demonizes the extreme left and the left villifies the extreme right. Neither side seems willing to put their differences aside for the sake of the nation. You can even see this process taking place on this Board in the difference of opinion and belief systems.

In the midst of a crisis (911 and it's aftermath) the bickering goes on.

Conseratives see this as a grave situation where extraordinary measures are needed to secure our safety if not viability as a nation.

Liberals while seeing the situation as something to be concerned about...are willing to go along business as usual...as example are willing to use the UN and more talk as a solution.

Bin Laden and the Muslim fundlementalists view talk as weakness, and would use Liberal concern for human rights against them. Take the case of Daniel Pearl for example, the guy thought his press pass would protect him.

But that aside one has to decide how grave of a threat to the viablity of Western Civilization Bin Ladenism is? The cost of 911 to the US economy was $200,000,000, 000.00. The orginal plan called for 10 planes at once. But more than that it shook the psychy of America to it's foundations. No nation could withstand repeated attacks of that nature...our economic system requires a stable government and a stable investment enviroment. Bin Ladensim disrupts that. Liberals in my view...having had relative economic prosperity since the end of WW2 can't get their minds around the fact that the world is a fluid place, where things change and that economic prosperity can disappear...thus their continued belief that it's just business as usual. The American people as a whole seem to realize the threat and that can account for the poor showing of the Democratic Party in 2002.

As I said before the Bush administrations greatest atribute is it's ability to adjust it's course once it sees the need to. Colin Powell verified my statement on the Charlie Rose show on Monday. Democrats and the Liberal Media have been showing that Iraq is a diaster. Yet no one ever said the road would be easy, fraught with peril before ones goal is reached. Is the USA making headway in Iraq and the answer is yes. Remember Rome was not built in a day nor did America achieve indepence in a day. The situation looked bleak for many years with regard to indepedence...If the Media was around they would be reporting just how hopeless the situation was. Yet to build a house it's one brick at a time, and sometimes it seems like it will never get done.
