What size battery does yourSC use? A group 49? Group 48? On my carrera, stock size was a group 49 (gigantic), but the battery tray also came predrilled for a slightly shorter group 48 -- last go-around, I replaced my group 49 battery with a group 48 battery I bought at my local FLAPS.
Since a failing voltage regulator caused an old standard battery to boil over and corrode around my battery tray, I went the safer way this time and splurged for an AGM style battery (absorbant glass matt) which suspends the acid in a fiberglass mat to prevent leakage (similar to optima batteries) --
Been running the group 48 battery for a few years now with boring (i.e. no issues at all) results.
