Don't have the numbers in front of me but, off the top of my head, something like 2,200 ducktail cars produced in 73/74. Remember that in 1974 the ducktail was declared illegal in Germany so no German cars were ducktail equipped. In addition, a significant number of U.S. cars were ordered ducktail-delete. I own one of these cars.
Early whale tail production from 75 through 77 (Carrera/Turbo) was about 6,500 cars.
I need to update some numbers but over the 3-year period from 2014-2016, 1974 Carreras in my data sold in an average of 17 days with an unsold rate of 14%. 1975 cars sold in 66 days with an unsold rate of 38%. Rough numbers to be sure, and an admittedly unscientific analysis, but still interesting. Well, interesting to me. I assume others have much more rewarding hobbies than I do.

Without knowing exactly how many were ordered spoiler delete in either duck tail and whale tail it's very hard to know exactly. I do know that almost every single Carrera 3.0 with the exception of ones imade for the UK were delivered without their spoiler and it was up to the dealers to sell and install a spoiler. I have an all original '76 C3 that was delivered to its original owner in Japan with the black polyurethane spoiler. Total 73-74 carrera production i count 3547 and total 75-77 Carrera and Turbo production I count 5759. A non scientific guess is somewhere around 2600-2800 ducktails and 4000 whale tails. Love your sales data by the way.
