Coumedin is really nasty (that it came from rat poison aught to be a clue). As I recall it's only advantage is that vitamin K can stop the bleeding if you have time, and some of the new ones (Xarelro being one) don't have that feature.
I used to hate the every 2 weeks testing to check on the levels in the blood which is critical.
The doc got me off after 2 stomach bleeds that almost killed me. He had me on Plavix and then he got the afib to stop (that's a whole other story) and the heart resumed its normal beat.
