"Until sixty-something years ago Dallas had electric busses and trolleys running around downtown. Then Standard Oil of Ohio bribed the city council to scrap the electrics and change over to diesel busses.
And now guess what, the city council is debating changing back to electric busses."
Same deal with Los Angeles, in the past we had the "red car" = light rail all over the city. They built freeways and deemed the red cars obsolete, trashed the trains and pulled up the rails. Now the freeways are over burdened and we are spending millions to rebuild light rail in the city.
