Sothebys are complete fools. Unless something has changed that I am not aware of, 1975 does not need emissions testing - at least my '75 S did not require it in San Diego.

1975 is the cut off year. However, I have no idea what this means from California DMV:

"Although vehicles 1975 and older are not required to get a smog check, owners of these vehicles must still ensure that their emissions systems are intact."

Does it mean that this 914 doesn't have one intact? My car never had an air pump or thermal reactors for 20 years in California - the last owner took them off in the early 1990s.

Doesn't matter anyhow. There is no Californian in their right mind that would pay this kind of money for a 914 1.8.
