It is confusing. They announced a release, which should be good. But the reason is they are expecting the dam to go full and do not want the emergency spillways to allow uncontrolled flow. So they are releasing ahead of this. This will cause additional flooding downstream.
They are in the process of upgrading the dam. It will not be finished until after next year. I think they are concerned with the dam giving way.
Water level reached 102.5 last year, which was highest ever. It is about to hit 100 feet
99.5 = 87000 acre-feet
102.5 = 122,000 acre-feet
The emergency spillway will release at 108.
