Not noted in that post is that per Weldcraft's suggestion I painted both the inside and outside of the barrel, acid etching primer followed with flat black.
Car has seen 100s of autocross runs and a track day on them, ymmv. It was a little bit tough dismounting / mounting tires as they have to pop over both new weld beads.
