Rick, I think cars used for transportation will disappear if oil becomes prohibitively expensive to use it that way. But oil/ gasoline will never be to much for people who enjoy cars just for fun.
Just like horses, nobody rides them as grocery getters anymore but they still are immensely popular as a hobby.
So I do not think there ever will be a time we can not go drive are Porsches for fun.
