Just a few things come to mind as I read this...
Six dogs (the number fluctuated through the years) to guard sheep on a farm that totals 3.4 acres?
We have friends who use great pyrenees to guard sheep. Sheep on open range with grizzly, mountain lion, bobcat, coyote and wolves as predators. Flocking sheep breeds - 1 dog to 150 or so sheep/150 acres. Non-flocking sheep breeds (scatter when you put them out to pasture) - usually 2 to 150 sheep/150 acres. Virtually zero predatory activity.
But these people need 6 for 3.4 acres? Come on... We have a problem here and it isn't the dogs, it is the owners. Unfortunately, it is the dogs that will pay the price.
