FL got soooooooo-per lucky on this one. Firstly because the hurricane's interaction with Cuba knocked out some of its power and secondly because the turn northward came later than expected. I know, no consolation for those who got the brunt of it or suffered damage / loss but overall this thing had the potential to be a LOT worse. I hope it's a wake-up call to the people in charge of emergency planning that actually having a workable plan (like ensuring people can actually leave, have access to fuel, places to stay, highways that aren't completely clogged for hours, etc.) for millions of people is a requirement now, particularly as sea levels and temperatures rise and populations tend to congregate near the coasts in coming years...
Glad it's (mostly) over and hope most people end up coming home to relatively minor damage.
