Scholarship endowments

This is what shameless promotion looks like. When it comes to getting the word out about this scholarship fund, my depravity knows no boundaries. Admin, if this breaks rules, delete it and don't worry about it, but I'm going for it. Since I derive zero personal financial gain from any efforts, I can be as shameless as I can imagine when asking for money for it. It's all about the kids.

Anyone else on the forum have a protected perpetual scholarship endowment named after them? Not my name only, but I am credited as the sole creator and fund raiser. I get bragging rights, at least so far.

This one is flawed. When I set it up at the Albuquerque Community Foundation, for it's protection from raiders, I did not realize that by not having it's own IRS Tax ID number, it is not qualified to receive any form of grant money from any source. It can only increase the balance by reinvestment of earned interest left over after the awards and admin costs, plus private donations.

Being the sole fund raiser since inception in 1995, a part time volunteer effort, I was able to raise it from $15,000 to a little over $40,000.

I have no shame when it comes to promoting it, but I must admit, I am a dismal failure. It's the blind pig thing. Even a blind pig can find a truffle every now and then. Doesn't stop me from trying.

The problem with the crowd funding sites is that the money collected is classified as personal income to me, regardless that I am giving it away. I need to create a 401( c ) ( 4 ) pass through entity with it's own IRS number.

That's all, shameless plug
