I'm having a disastrous time of trying to seal what started as a little drip on my sons 1982 coming from the IMS or Intergear coverI. I took it off cleaned it fitted a new gasket and it became worse, yesterday I removed the cover, sanded it on a flat surface and refitted it using a new gasket and gasket sealer, worse still. Last evening I tried again, I noticed that when you fit the cover it moves around slightly on the three studs, also that the case halves didn't match perfectly. I had a spare cover so tried again, using only the gasket this time, now its like the Exonn Vadez!

Question is, can I use RTV instead of a gasket, if so what brand and any good advice on how to do it?
