I was born in 1970 so I don't really have the kind of memories that you might have about the 70s the way you would if you were born between 1950 and 1960, but I do remember both of those songs very clearly. I guess the Mangione is the one that is the most clear to me. I actually think that my strongest memory of the HA song is a kind of odd one. My dad was in the Navy and we spent the last couple of years of the 70s in Japan. There was 1 TV station in English, the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service station "A - farts". We got roughly 12 hours of programing that was played twice, I assume so the shift workers had an opportunity to see the shows too. Also, we saw the shows 3-6 months after the folks stateside. One of the most watched shows on base was General Hospital. At the time one of the biggest story arcs were two characters, Luke and Laura. Luke raped Laura to Rise in one episode, and from then on, anytime I heard Rise over the years, that was the thing that sprang to mind.
