What year car are you working on? The 87 and later cars had the air pump filter located at the top center of the radiator. My 85 had the air pump filter located on the right front inner fender just foeward of the engine and below the engine air intake tube. It was in a blue metal can with tubes connecting it to the air pump. My air pump system is not currently installed so I can't get a picture.

i have a Porsche 928 S2 4.7 Auto Euro Spec 1984 Grand Prix White with Red leather Interior. Original car, no Mods. Sorry i did not state this in my original question, i guess i should state this in my title. I only have it as my signature.
