The other thing is part of my garage counter cover clutter.
I've found in a shared garage (with wife and son) that any clear surface, such as a workbench, soon becomes populated with all sorts of stuff that was nothing to do with me.
Where as, an already covered counter, gains much less... so I've worked out if I put big but easy stuff to move on there, it has less stuff put on it and it's easy to clear as the clutters only intention is to clutter and be easily moved.
The Christmas paper is actually one of those useful icey Day windshield covers. Big, easily moveable. Never been on a car, but it's VERY useful
