What's messed up is...the rules. This was the pass of the year, and it killed the show. Even Raikonnen had no idea why VER was penalized. Brings back memories of Grosjean's pass on Massa in hungary last year (?), which was awesome and led to the same penalty...
So what's the solution ? IMO *stop* making track runoff where drivers can go. Put 10ft of wet grass grass there. Or giant kerbs that break cars (grass is better). Resume asphalt later if you want... Simple.
Aside from this, 2 conclusions for today:
1) Vettel's move in between Bottas and Vandorne was gold. Nicely done !!! Bottas must have felt that like a prostate exam...
2) it's not mercedes. It's Hamilton. Bottas is not a bad driver and he's below Vettel and Raikonnen in a Ferrari. I dislike HAM but I have to admit he is the fastest driver in the field, period.

This pretty much sums it up. Fantastic move, but there is no incentive to not corner cut. If they add something and decrease the runoff slightly, the driver has to take a risk. I go for the pass, potentially having to let up because of grass, or stay back. It's not like RAI didn't leave any room either.
