I am pretty disappointed in some of my uncles and my mom.

When I was a child in the early 70's, my Grandfather had a finished basement in his house on Long Island just outside the city. He cousin, my uncle, worked in the recording industry before moving on to the financial markets.

Because of his employment in the recording industry he would give my grandfather a lot of lp's. all of those LPs were int he basement on shelves next to a old style record layer that folded out of the wall.

Some were one off LP's my uncle had pressed for yuks. One such LP was of Fats, from the sounds of it, he was doing sound level checks and sitting in front of a piano.

He would play a little then start talking, telling joked, telling stories etc.. Then he would play a song, then stop discuss something technical he wanted changed then go back to telling jokes and stories all the while playing around on the piano.

I was mesmerized by it mostly because it was so different than just a music LP.

My grandfather passed away in 2001, I asked a few years ago if anyone knew where all the old records ended up. No one knows.

Whoever ended up with that one has a pretty cool little piece of history in their hands.
