OK, here’s the deal. I have about 95% of a complete swap out to convert an automatic 928 to a manual 5 speed. I was planning to install this on my ’84 but times change and so do interests. $550 for it all.
The entire set up is out of an ’81. The condition of the transmission is unknown. It prior owner claimed it worked very well, but he lied about too many things on the car for that to be a completely believable claim from him. The car had a failed engine when I bought it so I never drove the car. That said, when I drained the transmission the magnetic plugs had no debris on them at all, suggesting it may have been shifting well. Pig in a poke. There were a lot of newer parts on this car suggesting someone wanted it working well. The odometer showed 68,000 miles if that really means much given the reliability of 928 odometers that we know and love.
Included;
• Complete torque tube with driveshaft, bearings, shifter assembly etc. Bearings thought to be original.
• Bellhousing
• flywheel
• Clutch disks and pressure plate in decent condition, no hot spots on the pressure plates or flywheel that see, a fair amount of remaining clutch surface, 10mm thickness?
• Throwout bearing and assembly, looks ok (?)
• 5-speed transmission, non LSD
• Rear cross member
• Older master and a newer slave cylinder
• Firewall mounting sheet metal parts for the clutch master cylinder, necessary on some cars, some are already set up for a manual installation
• Clutch and brake pedal assembly
• Misc hardware (this is where the 95% comes into play) I most likely have all of it but sorting it out from other 928 pieces and parts may be difficult.
So, if you have a 16v auto and want to go for a manual on the cheap here is the opportunity to do so. I don’t really want to ship this, but I can deliver it in the Houston/Dallas/Austin general area if that helps, for gas money. My phone number is 936-827-3337
