If he ends up with a million dollars, he's set for life....considering how much he has already made at Florida.
I liked Coach Mac and feel much of the poor offense was due to injuries and suspensions. Normally, you would get a pass for that kind of stuff. But when it happens every year......it makes you wonder whether you have the right captain at the helm.
Coach Mac didn't help matters with his somewhat unorthodox pressers and post game interviews with occasional jabs at administration throw in.
Couple all that with a fairly new AD, who wasn't the one who hired him.
Frankly.....I was shocked that he was let go......but after a couple days of reading commentary and analysis of the situation....I have a better understanding now of the whys and hows of the whole situation.
Back to the buyout....don't forget Mac's agent (Jimmy Sexton) also represents a bunch of other head coaches and it wasn't in his best interest to create friction with a school whom he may be negotiating with again in the very near future.
Mac will be fine. He can get another coaching gig whenever he wants, I'm sure.
The real question at this point is who takes his place at Florida?
In the meantime, I'm excited that Randy Shannon has taken over as interim head coach and we finally got a real taste of what Malik Zaire can do at QB. Our game at Mizzou this Saturday will be a very interesting one.....especially if we see Malik get the start.
