Depends on what the primary pipe sizes are. You will want at least 1 5/8" OD and preferably 1 3/4" for a 3.6. 1 1/2" will strangle the motor.
964 heads have a stud arrangement identical to earlier heads, you can use either thin or thick flange it's just a matter of either changing the studs or having extra length.
Here's a 3.2 exhaust port
964 studs arrangement is the same as 3.2
993 has both the early and late pattern just place the studs according to need
either a 964 or 993 can use the bigger B&B headers seen here w/ 964 heat pipe
