The parents of a neighbor up the road contracted for a small prefab house for just the two of them on the family property. It's a really nice place now, but the builder sent it out with lots of things that didn't meet code. The problem for the company was the owner is a retired contractor and called in the County & a State inspectors & pointed everything out to them. The County inspector wouldn't let them finish until everything met code. The State inspector instigated an inspection of the plant where they produced the modules. The owner also got a $32K rebate from the manufacturer for his trouble & inconvenience. Modular homes are potentially quality constructed but with this one there were problems.
