That's bad luck on the pump - no way it should fail that fast. Did you do regular flushes over the 6 years?
If you still like the bike, I'd do an ABSectomy. I've done two ('04s) and they're pretty easy - lot's of DIY help on the forum. Total cost would be for a set of new lines from Galfer or Spiegler for a couple hundred dollars.
