PCV information

I have searched the "How To" and forums. The PCV is rarely mentioned and then merely the object of speculation. Even Wayne's book, 101 Projects doesn't help. The PCV isn't even mentioned in the book's index. The R and R process has been described as tedious but no details. One person speculated that a failed PCV contributed to the early demise of their AOS. Another person said later models don't even have a PCV!

If the PCV does potentially contribute to AOS failure, shouldn't it be replaced or at least cleaned when the AOS is replaced?

Let's hear it, folks??? Let us answer this question once and for all.

By the way, if later models don't have a PCV, can we do away with the valve portion and just keep the hose with an open port connection?
