I'll give another example and then p$$ off...

Several years ago my father had (he still has it) a house that had fallen into disrepair.
On a front fascia, there was a lot of rot on a window sill. When my father left to get some food, I decided to grab his circular saw, make a guide, and cut out a section of the sill to make a groove, in which I could place an insert to remove/ fill the rotten channel, all without replacing the whole sill.

Unfortunately, the plan went to hell. My dad's saw had a dull blade, which burnt the wood more than cut it. Also- my dad (who was suffering from early dementia) had stored the saw outside, so the contacts were rusted, and it barely spun.

As a result, i was unable to cut a beautiful groove to insert a replacement piece before he and his helper got back.

At that point, all hell broke loose. To them, I had destroyed the house. My father wanted to use his "as seen on tv " $19.95 cutter to fix the situation. his helper, wanted to remover the entire window to remedy "my" mistake. All I needed was a working circular saw and 30 minutes. Neither of them were interested in my opinion though.

It was at that point my "step mother" called on her cell phone from 300 miles away demanding to know why I had ruined my dad's house.

With the local city department about to fine him bigtime for negligence issues, there were 1000 other projects that needed attention. Seeing that this was just a bunch of chiefs getting nowhere, I retreated to other jobs, where i could be more effective, however, to them it just appeared I didn't know what i was doing and scoured off.

To this day it pisses me off. All I needed was a working saw and 30 minutes, yet it turned into a total pissing match.

Arggghhhhh.....
